MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay – August 4, 2025 – The U.S. Men’s National Team capped off an impressive Pan American Cup campaign by earning the silver medal, falling to world No. 7 Argentina in the championship match. Despite the 10-0 final score, Team USA leaves Uruguay with heads held high and a secured place in the upcoming 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifier.

Ranked No. 25 in the world, the U.S. squad entered the final as clear underdogs against a seasoned and sharp Argentine team known for its attacking firepower. The Americans showed early promise, earning a circle entry in just the fourth minute, but Argentina quickly asserted dominance, launching a relentless offensive effort that tested the U.S. defense from start to finish.

Goalkeeper Jonathan Klages stood tall in goal, making multiple critical saves across all four quarters, including a standout stop on Argentina’s sixth penalty corner. However, Los Leones found scoring success through clinical execution and fast-paced transition play, building a 4-0 lead by halftime.

Team USA regrouped in the third quarter and generated some offensive momentum with promising attempts from Kei Kaeppeler and Jack Heldens, but the Argentine defense remained impenetrable. As the match wore on, Argentina’s depth and precision continued to show, with four additional goals in the final quarter securing the gold medal.

Although the defeat in the final meant missing out on automatic qualification to the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup, the U.S. Men’s National Team earned valuable experience and a guaranteed place in the World Cup Qualifier. Their silver medal finish represents a significant achievement and a step forward in their international journey.
